While most covers of this Chris Smither piece, made most famous by Bonnie Raitt in 1972, are performed in a straight-ahead 12-bar blues style, Kari Kirkland has given it a seriously sexy, contemporary jazz twist. "We wanted to present this traditional blues song in a completely fresh style", says vocalist Kari Kirkland. Arranged by 4-time Grammy-nominee Shelly Berg (Arturo Sandoval, Gloria Estefan, Ray Charles), the song is brought to a new life with a cast of incredible jazz / pop legends: Peter Erskine (Weather Report, Steps Ahead, Diana Krall, Chris Botti), Carlitos del Puerto (Chick Corea, Steve Gadd, Stevie Wonder), Dean Parks (Steely Dan, Madeleine Peyroux, The Crusaders) and Brian Kilgore (Daft Punk, ColdPlay, Live, Aerosmith). Kari brings a melted-chocolate, sugar-velvet vocal to elevate the sultry, sensual late-night vibe of this song recorded at Capitol Studios in LA.
